The most ridiculous (real) complaints made by tourists

(Some stupid comments from some -even more stupid- tourists. A text read at the travel gallery in the online Daily Telegraph on 6th May 2017)

Here are some of the most ridiculous (genuine) complaints made by holidaymakers to their travel agent, courtesy of research by the flight booking website justtheflight.co.uk and cruise booking website bonvoyage.uk.

"We could not enjoy the tour as our guide was too ugly. You can't be expected to admire a beautiful view when you're staring at a face like his."

"The Grand Canyon? It's nothing special"

About Central Park (New York)

"Nothing that any other major city doesn't have. I'll never get back those three hours of my life that I spent walking around this park."

"I have visited much nicer parks in Glasgow."

"Don't bother. Boring."

"Smelt like urine, over crowded, and too many falafel carts."

"I am struggling to see what the attraction is, we have nicer parks in Southport."

"It's just a park. A park which needs a good mowing and weeding."

About the Eiffel Tower, Paris

"More like the Awful Tower."

"Huge crowds, the fountains are covered with ugly brown paint. You're being assaulted by junk sellers in huge groups. The surrounding park no longer smells of roses. Go if you must, but you won't enjoy it."

"The queues are enormous, the journey by the 100 year old lift takes forever with the queuing, then you are pressed in like sardines, it's pick-pocket capital and no wonder. Then we found out that only the first stage was open so couldn't visit the top anyway! Nasty little cafe. The view is ok - if you like views."

"If I want a theme park I would go to Disneyland."

"Over all I found the French to be rude and horrid. I have been around the world and this is one place I have to say the people are a disgrace. The police are just the same."

About Statue of Liberty, New York

"Don't go. It takes hours to go from Manhattan to the top of the statue, and the view isnt very good either."

"It's just a statue - I don't get it."

"Worst experience ever. Took my grandson to New York. One thing on his list was to see the Statue of Liberty. Stood in a horrendous line to go through security and it was like a third world country. Plus, no place to sit on a terribly over packed ferry that listed to the right. Wasted a whole afternoon. Just go to the dock and throw your money in the water."

About Stonehenge

"Just rocks"

"The definition of a tourist trap. Miles and miles of travelling to arrive at a park where you are given an audio guide to some really uninteresting rocks which can last anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 minutes depending on your pace."

"What a complete waste of time, and more important, lots of money. It is just a bunch of rocks. Now, I understand some people will like seeing a bunch of rocks and look at Stonehenge with a different perspective. For those people, definitely go see Stonehenge."
